The "Green Study Room"
Concept of the Program Offer
The City of Trier intends to establish a science and technology park in the course of the site conversion on the Petrisberg. With the establishment of such an innovative park, founders of new businesses, existing companies, young entrepreneurs, and research facilities of the Technical College and the University will be located on the site of the present State Garden Show.
Based on these considerations, the “Landesgartenschau GmbH”, the Technical College, and the University aspire to close cooperation. For example, this may be expressed in
· linking scientific and technological investigations and ideas with the conception of the SGS,
· mutual projects and events before, during, and after the SGS 2004,
· an intensive cooperation with all essential University and Technical College departments and
· academic theses with topics accompanying the State Garden Show
The themes from the concept of the “Green Study Room” will enable the interdisciplinary exchange of ideas between the students and teachers of all departments as well as bring about an increase in the content of current, region-oriented themes in the attractive, inspiring surroundings of the State Garden Show.
Who should benefit from these offers?
The “Green Study Room” is addressed to students of all departments of the Technical College and the University in Trier and their partner colleges and universities.
What does that mean, the “Green Study Room”?
At the State Garden Show site on the Petrisberg, students of the University of Trier will take courses related to their studies, such as seminars, research internships, project studies, etc. with emphasis on the four elements “Earth,” “Air,” “Fire,” and “Water,” among other things, in the earth sciences (climatology, hydrology, soil science, biogeography, geobotany, and geography), with all their man-made aspects. Planned university events, both before and following the SGS show clearly that the development of the Petrisberg into a science and technology park offers in the long-term an optimal scientific environment for research, science, and the economy.
Where is the “Green Study Room” ?
At the State Garden Show, of course! Regardless of the emphasis on content or the required equipment, the classroom is outdoors. Depending on the thematic goal, however, other courses are possible at the University, the Technical College, or in other places.
